CCOPAB pays respect to Brazilians who died in the earthquake in Haiti
Rio de Janeiro (RJ) – The Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB) – Sergio Vieira de Mello Center, paid due respect to the Brazilians who had their lives cut short as a result of the earthquake that occurred on 12 January 2010, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
At that time, 18 Brazilian Army soldiers, a Brazilian police officer from the Federal District, two UN civilian members - all from the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) - and the Brazilian doctor Zilda Arns lost their lives.
The activity was carried out at the Haiti Memorial, a monument that honors the Brazilian blue helmets who fell down in the earthquake. During the activity, there was a nominal call of the deceased Brazilians, followed by a bugle call (taps) and a wreath-laying ceremony at the Memorial.
CCOPAB military formation included soldiers from the Brazilian Army, the Brazilian Navy, the Brazilian Air Force and military personnel from friendly Nations.
