Military personnel from CCOPAB make arrangements and do a recce for the Mine Action Course
Rio de Janeiro (RJ) – From 06 to 09 July, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center - Sergio Vieira de Mello Center - sent three members of the Division of Education and Training to the Engineering Training Center (CIEng, acrornym in Portuguese), a facility of the 2nd Railway Battalion, in Araguari-MG, so to prepare and plan the Mine Action Course to be held on the second week of August.
The team of officers and NCOs from both Centers gathered to coordinate practical instructions on minefield marking, non-technical and technical surveys, as well as the correct handling of explosives used in humanitarian demining missions.
The course, offered in Spanish and lasting for four weeks, is divided into E-learning and On-site learning. The Mine Action Course is designed to train military personnel, either from the Brazilian Armed Forces and Auxiliary Forces or those from friendly nations, to carry out roles of international instructors and monitors in humanitarian demining missions under the aegis of international organizations.
