CCOPAB commander takes part in a Latin American Association of Peacekeeping Training Centers event in Lima - Peru

Lima (PER) - From 7 to 10 April, the commander of the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center, Sergio Vieira de Mello Center, took part in a preparatory meeting for the 10th Latin American Association of Peacekeeping Training Centers, which took place in Lima, Peru.

Representatives from member countries with the Latin American Association of Peacekeeping Training Centers – Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Guatemala, Uruguay, Paraguay and Peru – joined the meeting. Also, representatives from Germany, France and United States took part in the meeting, but they did so as observers. Besides that, civil institutions such as Small Arms Survey, Peace Operations Training Institute (POTI) and the Associacion de Veteranos de Operaciones de Paz de Uruguay (Uruguayan Association of Peace Operations Veterans) were involved in the meeting.

Present and future PKOs and Humanitarian Operations were some of the topics at the meeting. It was decided that the International Association of Peacekeeping Training Centers (IAPTC) will take place in Lima, from 07 to 11 October of the following year.

On the occasion, CCOPAB commander provided a brief explanation on the activities carried out by the center. The COL (Air Force) Anderson Clayton Francisco, who represented the Defense Ministry, also took part in the meeting.
