CCOPAB supports SAAT

From December 10 to 14, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center gave support to the Selection Assistance and Assessment Team (SAAT), which is a United Nations party that tests volunteering Police Officers for Peace Missions. The volunteers were submitted to English and French skills exams, an interview, computer, driving and shooting tests.

One hundred and twenty-three Police members were assessed and they came from the following Brazilian states: Acre, Alagoas, Amazonas, Bahia, Ceará, Distrito Federal, Espírito Santo, Goiás, Mato Grosso, Pará, Paraná, Piauí, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Norte, Rio Grande do Sul, Rondônia, Santa Catarina and São Paulo. Fifty-four Police Officers were approved in all of the phases of the assessment, out of which nine were females.

The UN team was composed by Mr. José Figueira Carvalho (from Portugal) and Mr. Davidson Razafindrakoto (from Madagascar). This was the very first time that the assessment was carried out by UNPOL members in Brazil. The approved personnel are now ready to be deployed to Peacekeeping Operations around the globe in order to be part of the Police Component within the missions.

The Brazilian Army Staff and the State Police General Inspectorate followed the assessment process. It is worth to highlight the support given by the Brazilian Army Logistics Sergeants School (ESSLOG, acronym in Portuguese), the 11th Army Police Battalion and Afonsos Air Base, which was fundamental for the event.
