Land Operations Commander visits CCOPAB

Rio de Janeiro – On November 22, General José Luiz Dias Freitas, Commander of the Land Operations Command (COTer, acronym in Portuguese) visited the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese). General Freitas was accompanied by the following officers: Lieutenant General Antonio Manoel de Barros, Commander of the 1st Army Division; Major General Kleber Nunes de Vasconcellos, Chief of the Peace Missions, Aviation and Military Police General Inspector of the Land Operations Command; Major General Algacir Antônio Polsin, Chief of the Employment of the Land Force and his assistant Colonel Rocha Lima. The aim of the visit was to get updates on the Brazilian architecture of the Peace Operations Training, which outlines the role CCOPAB plays.

Following the military honors, the Commander of the Land Operations Command was introduced to Brazilian and foreign instructors of CCOPAB and attended an institutional lecture delivered by Colonel Machado, CCOPAB’s Commander. General Freitas could learn about the activities carried out by the Joint Center regarding the training of military, police and civilians, Brazilians and from friendly nations, for peace missions and humanitarian demining, under the aegis of international organisms.

General Freitas also visited the facilities of the Center and met the staff of the divisions of CCOPAB. He could also visit Haiti Memorial, a monument honoring the victims of the 2010 earthquake in that country. The visit ended with the official picture and the signing of CCOPAB’s book of honor.
