CCOPAB contributes to selection of Brazilian military members for position in UN

The United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO) has recently selected Brazilian military members applying for a position in its office. Brazilian Army Colonel Ulisses and Commander (Navy) Carla Daniel went through a hard selection process and they will soon work in DPKO’s office, which is in the United Nations headquarters, in New York.

The Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) played a significant role regarding the training of the two officers. In June 2016, Colonel Ulisses took part in the DPKO Recruitment and Preparation Course, which is carried out by CCOPAB. During the Course, Colonel Ulisses got to learn the peculiarities of UN structure as well as the recruitment process. Late that same year, more precisely in November, he went through an English oral training held by CCOPAB, simulating the interview carried out by UN recruitment committee as a complement to his preparation.

In April 2017, it was Commander (Navy) Carla Daniel’s turn to go through the same DPKO recruitment interview simulation in English at CCOPAB. During this training, CCOPAB’s instructors aimed at improving her knowledge of UN structure, the selection process and of the English language.

Moreover, it is important to mention that besides the aforementioned Armed Forces officers, Brazilian Major Sérgio Carrera, member of the Military Police of the Federal District, has also been selected to work at the DPKO. He is the first Brazilian Police representative to be admitted to a position in the department.
