CCOPAB celebrates the establishment of the Peacekeeping Operations Training Center

On March 2, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) celebrated the 12th anniversary of its predecessor, the Peacekeeping Operations Center (CI Op Paz, acronym in Portuguese). The event had the participation of Mr. Vanderlei Braga, president of Suez Battalion Members Association in Rio de Janeiro; Mr. Jorge Rangel, president of the Former Members of the Brazilian Detachment in the Peace Interamerican Force (FAIBRAS, acronym in Portuguese); Mr André Simões, nephew of Mr Sergio Vieira de Mello, CCOPAB’s Patron; as well as of Unit Commanders or their representatives and civilian guests.

CI Op Paz

Due to the increasing international mobilization to establish a proper structure to pass along procedures and rules for the United Nations peace missions, the Brazilian Army, as the major supplier of peace mission personnel among the Armed Forces in Brazil, created the Peace Operations Training Center (CI Op Paz) in March 2005. In 2010, after a resolution issued by the Ministry of Defense Office, CI Op Paz had its name changed to Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB). Since then, the Center has been composed by personnel from the three Forces and its main goal has been to prepare Brazilian military and civilian personnel as well as from friendly nations to be deployed in peace missions.
