EPMP – Course for Peacekeeping Operations 2010-2

The second phase of the preparation of military observers was started at CCOPAB.

04 Oct 10. The second phase of the Course for Peacekeeping Operations 2010-2 (EPMP, acronym in Portuguese) started this Monday at the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center. The course is previewed to end on October 29. The opening class was given by Mr COL Fernando Rodrigues Goulart, and dealt with his experience in peacekeeping missions.

EPMP aims at enabling military personnel to be deployed in missions for Staff Officers, Military Observers and UN Police (UNPOL) in UN Peacekeeping Missions. This course includes as students, officers of the Armed Forces and of the Military Polices selected for those missions. For the first time, EPMP will count on the participation of military fire-fighter officers who will serve at MINUSTAH in Haiti.

EPMP is totally presented in English. The course is held at CCOPAB, at the Instruction Field of (CIG, acronym in Portuguese) and surrounding area and the classes are both theoretical and practical.

This edition of EPMP will have the participation of two instructors from Friendly Nations: LTC Tschakert of the German Army and CPT Andy Smith of the British Army. Both military personnel will reinforce the team of instructors of EPMP 10/2. CPT Lucas Fillipi of the Argentine Army will attend the instructions as a student together with the Brazilian military observers. CPT Lucas Fillipi and other 34 Brazilian military personnel will be students of this course, among whom are 17 from the Brazilian Army, 4 from the Brazilian Air Force, 8 from Military Polices and 5 from Fire-fighter brigades.
