Visit of the Norwegian Deputy Minister of Defense to the Peacekeeping Operations Training Center
The Norwegian Deputy Minister of Defense, Mr. Espen Barth Eide, visited the Peacekeeping Operations Training Center on February 9, 2010. The objective of the visit was to deal with subjects of common interest between Brazil and Norway concerning defense and security, UN- Peacekeeping Operations. After receiving information about the Peacekeeping Operations Training Center in a lecture given by Colonel Pedro Aurélio de Pessôa, CI Op Paz Commander, the Deputy Minister conducted a presentation talking about “Norway and the Peacekeeping Operations”.
Instructors of the Command and General Staff School, of the Advanced School, of the Military Engineering Institute, and Officers of the Military Police of Rio de Janeiro, Fire fighters of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Governmental and Academic organizations of International Relations from several Higher Education Institutions attended the lecture given by Mr. Espen Barth Eide.
The Norwegian Ambassadress in Brazil, Ms. Turid Rodrigues Eusébio, the Head of the Norwegian Air Force, Major General Stein Erick Nodeland and the Lieutenant General Marco Antônio de Faria were present at the event.
