CCOPAB’s EMT starts its mission in Colombia

Bogota, Colombia – The Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB) has deployed another Mobile Training Team (MTT) in Colombia. Its mission is to prepare Human Resources in the Area of Peace Operations by carrying out a United Nations Military Observers Course from 10 to 23 of June.

On June 9, as preliminary activities, the team got to know several facilities with the objective of not only coordinating the necessary actions to develop the course, but also knowing the particularities of Education and Doctrine Institutions of the National Army of Colombia which are involved.

Among the different reconnaissance and welcoming activities, the team was received by COLONEL PEDRO JAVIER ROJAS GUEVARA, Director of the Army’s Doctrine Center (CEDOE, acronym in Spanish), who talked about the different activities and futures expectations of the doctrine in the country; by COLONEL RAÚL HERNANDO FLÓREZ CUERVO, Director of the Military Education Center (CEMIL, acronym in Spanish), who mentioned the structure of the Center; and, finally, by LIEUTENANT COLONEL JUAN CARLOS GALAN, Director of the International Missions and Integral Action School (ESMAI, acronym in Spanish), which is part of CEMIL and is directly responsible for carrying out the course before the National Army of Colombia.

By the end of the morning, the team had the opportunity to have lunch with the Brazilian Defense and Army Attaché in Colombia, COLONEL EUSTÁQUIO ALVES DA COSTA NETO, in the Officers’ Hotel (Hotel Colón) in which the team is lodged.

At the end of the day, a welcome dinner was offered to the team by GENERAL ALBERTO JOSE MEJÍA FERRERO, Commander of the National Army of Colombia, who was represented by COLONEL CARLOS BARBOSA, Director of International Relations of the National Army of Colombia.
