CCOPAB certifies the military who concluded the Experts on Mission Course
On 25 May, CCOPAB certified the military personnel who concluded the Experts on Mission Course (EPMP, acronym in Portuguese), which took place from 2 to 25 May.
The students of the course were officers from the Brazilian Navy, Brazilian Army, Brazilian Air Force and Colombian Army who will be deployed to UN peace missions as Staff officers and Military Observers.
There were instructors from the Brazilian Navy, Brazilian Army, Brazilian Air Force, State Military Police and Firefighting of Rio de Janeiro, French Army, British Army and Chilean Navy.
The course, which is carried out in English, presented practical and theoretical instructions on the issues related to the UN peace operations in CPTM (Core Pre-Deployment Training Material) and STM (Specialized Training Material). Such materials comprise protection of human rights, protection of civilians, international law and peacekeeping, disease prevention, mediation and negotiation, respect to diversity, techniques of interview and logistics, among others.
In the end, the students took part in an exercise of crisis management, developed in a complex scenario, with situations likely to be found in an actual environment.
