CCOPAB starts off the Civil-Military Coordination Course
No período de 14 a 18 de setembro, From 14 to 18 September, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) carries out the second 2015 Civil-Military Coordination Course (CIMIC), which aims at preparing the military personnel who will execute activities related to the Civil Affairs System, with emphasis on the UN Civil-Military Coordination of the 23rd CONTBRAS/MINUSTAH (Brazilian Battalion, Brazilian Engineering Company and Marines Company), as well as officers from friendly nations and members of the academia.
The students receive instructions on the functioning of peace operations, the structure of the United Nations and the conceptual difference between UN-CIMIC, UN-CMCoord and ACISO (social civic action), as well as other topics from the UN-CIMIC Specialized Training Material.
Concluding the weekly activities, case studies in groups, analysing situations lived by previous contingents, such as humanitarian assistance, natural disasters, among others, will be executed.
The course had 40 students: 05 from the Brazilian Navy, 16 from the Brazilian Army, 01 from the Brazilian Air Force, 02 officers from Angola, 01 from Argentina, 2 from Chile, 1 from Uruguay, as well as, 12 civilians from International Relations area.
