Sound of Peace Band
Sound of Peace Band is composed of military musicians from the Brazilian Navy, Brazilian Army, Brazilian Air Force, and military firefighters and policemen of the State of Rio de Janeiro. After a pause in the activities, Sound of Peace Band resumed its presentations on July 5 for the birthday celebration of the Commander of the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center (CCOPAB) Colonel Baganha; in that opportunity, the band's gift to the Center's commander was the "Dobrado Comandante Baganha", a military song composed especially for him. The band also made a presentation during the ice-breaking activity of the Course for Journalists in Conflict Areas on July 8 in the area of Sergio Vieira de Mello Cultural Facilities.
Sound of Peace Band's first presentation was on August 9, 2010 during the 2nd General Assembly of the Latin American Association of Peacekeeping Training Centers (ALCOPAZ), whose audience was composed by military personnel from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Guatemala, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay, as well as by observers representing Canada, the United States of America, France and Russia. Made up by musicians and female singers who were part of the military personnel from CCOPAB, expressly from the Division of Social Communication, Sound of Peace Band members were prompt to accomplish their unique and noble mission: MAKE MUSIC PRESENTATIONS AS A PEACEKEEPING TOOL FOR THOSE PEOPLES TRAUMATIZED BY CONFLICTS AND NATURAL DISASTERS, trying by cultural means to accomplish social inclusion of children, young people and adults of any social class.
Music is the art of combining sounds and expressing the feelings of the soul. It is one way of developing the mind, of balancing emotions and giving peace to people´s souls in order to enable their focus on any field of research and philosophical thought. Through music, the main tool of integration, Sound of Peace Band has thus made a real effort to pass on the message that by love and dedication, it is possible to hope for gradual peace and joy for humankind.
BRAZIL! INTEGRATION!
