Vila Militar (RJ) – On 03 October 2016, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) started out the second phase of the Military Experts on Mission Course (EPMP, acronym in Portuguese). This phase lasts for four weeks and aims to provide military students with the English language communication skills, making use of general and technical vocabulary, functional grammar, technical writing and conversation classes regarding the activities developed by military personnel working as UN MILOBS and UN Staff Officers. Thirteen Brazilian Army Officers are taking part in this phase.
Jaboatão dos Guararapes (PE) - On 11 October, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB) started the UN Pre-deployment Advanced Field Exercise (EAOP, acronym in Portuguese). It aims to evaluate and certify the troop of the Brazilian Battalion (BRABAT) which will take part in the 25th Brazilian Contingent to the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH).
Entebbe (Uganda) - From 03 to 14 October, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB) will be participating in the United Nations Staff Officers’ Pilot Training of Trainers.
Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) - The Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB) took part in the 22nd Annual Conference of the International Association of Peacekeeping Training Centres (IAPTC). The aim of the conference is to promote training partnerships and contribute to the strengthening of the structures of the regional associations. The event took place from September 26 to 30 and had the participation of 197 people from 55 countries.
Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) - In the morning of Sept 29, 4th and last day of the Conference, following the same format of the previous days, the speakers talked about "Peace Reviews and Their Future Implications for Training", in which they addressed issues about the implications in training after the High-Level Independent Panel on Peace Operations (HIPPO) and the Strategic Guidance Framework (SGF). Besides, one of the speakers mentioned new approaches in pre-deployment training. Following that phase, the audience was split into groups and, later, gave feedback on their discussions to the whole plenary.
Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) - On Sept 28, 3rd day of the Conference, the panel addressed themes related to new technologies, training to prevent Sexual Exploitation and Abuse and Leadership in the field.
