On April 22, opening the second week of the training, UN instructor LTC Richard Zabot (French Air Force) started the activities talking about Information Gathering. Within this context, the students got together in groups to carry out a planning and present it to the whole class.
Mr. Cama T. Tuiloma, Fiji's Ambassador to Brazil, has visited the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center. The Republic of the Fiji Islands is made up of more than 300 islands and is located to the South of the Pacific Ocean.
The Ambassador was received by CCOPAB Commander, Colonel Luiz Fernando Estorilho Baganha, who gave a lecture about the Center and its activities concerning peacekeeping missions.
On the fifth day, April 19, the facilitator from the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center (CCOPAB), Lieutenant Godoi opened the activities giving a lecture on Legal Aspects of UN Peacekeeping Operations. After that, the instructors from the UN, LTC Khannu Rai (Nepalese Army) and Major Iova (Romanian Army) talked about UN Logistics at Work and Introduction to Integrated Mission Planning Process – IMPP, respectively.
One platoon with 39 Canadian military personnel disembarked at the airoport of Várzea Grande, in the metropolitan region of Cuiabá this Saturday afternoon (13) in order to gather the joint military operation with the Brazilian Army in Haiti. This cooperation on behalf of the United Nations (UN) is the first opportunity in history in which Brazilian and Canadian troops work together.
On the fourth day, April 18, the first instruction was about HIV/AIDS and UN Peacekeeping Operations. After that, the students gave instructions on Respect for Diversity and Safety and Security. At the end of the morning, there was a discussion on the impressions and suggestions for improvements and innovations to be made in the UN training material.
