CCOPAB Completes Training of Female Military and Police Officers for Peace Missions
Rio de Janeiro (RJ) – From November 25 to December 5, 2024, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB) conducted the Sectoral Course for Specific Preparation of Female Military Personnel for Peace Operations (EPESFOP). The course aimed to enhance the training of the 32 future blue helmets by complementing their knowledge related to combat roles, better preparing them for participation in complex peace operations. This training required them to demonstrate, in practical scenarios, emotional control, fatigue resistance in adverse situations, and other essential skills.
The EPESFOP was created to facilitate increased female participation in peace missions, aligning with several United Nations Security Council resolutions under the “Women, Peace and Security” Agenda and the “Uniformed Gender Parity Strategy.” It comprises a series of practical and theoretical modules covering various topics to ensure that future peacekeepers are prepared for diverse scenarios and challenges encountered during Peace Missions.
Key topics covered during the training included first aid, hand-to-hand combat, orientation, engagement, driving techniques, negotiation, procedures in suspicious areas, progression in high-risk areas, counter-ambush, firefighting, CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) protection, and specialized psychological preparation supported by the Army's Center for Applied Psychology (CPAEx).
The training included 32 participants: 17 Brazilian Army military personnel; 9 Military Police officers from the states of Alagoas, Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro, and Santa Catarina; 4 Civil Police officers from the states of Amazonas, Ceará, and São Paulo; and 3 Federal Highway Police officers.
