CCOPAB Supports UN Assessment of Brazilian Police Officers for Peace Missions
Brasília (DF) – From December 8 to 13, 2024, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB) supported the Assessment Mission Service (AMS), an evaluation promoted by the United Nations Police (UNPOL) within its member states, when countries show interest in participating with police officers in United Nations Peacekeeping Missions.
As part of the Selection Assistance and Assessment Team (SAAT), CCOPAB assisted the UN evaluation team, led by Mr. DMYTRO OSCHEPKOV, Recruitment and Selection Officer from the United Nations Police Division, tasked with conducting tests with voluntary Brazilian police officers. These assessments included language proficiency in English and French, interviews, IT knowledge, driving skills, and handgun shooting.
Coordinated by the General Inspectorate of Military Police and Military Fire Brigades within the Land Operations Command (IGPM/COTER), this edition of the AMS/SAAT 2024 involved 124 volunteer police officers, 72 of whom successfully passed the evaluations. Upon approval, they remain registered with both Brazilian and UNPOL Databases as qualified to participate in future UN Peacekeeping and Special Political Missions.
It is noteworthy that CCOPAB has been providing significant support in preparing Brazilian police for UN Peace Missions through its training programs, encompassing theoretical, linguistic, and practical skills as required by the AMS/SAAT. Consequently, it prides itself on having many of its former students among the assessment's approved candidates, which this year reached a record approval rate of 58% compared to previous editions—2021 (32%) and 2018 (43.90%)—highlighting the dedication and professionalism of the involved police officers and reinforcing Brazil's commitment to global peace.
