CCOPAB ends another edition of the UN Protection of Civilians Course
Rio de Janeiro (RJ) – From 29 May to 07 June 2023, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB) carried out the United Nations Protection of Civilians Course (UNPOC), aiming at preparing military and police personnel to hold positions regarding the Protection of Civilians system, within the scope of the United Nations peacekeeping operations (UNPKOs).
The first phase of the course, lasting for one week, was carried in the distance e-learning modality, on the EBAula virtual platform, where students were able to familiarize themselves with the basic concepts related to peace missions, and learn the necessary content for the second phase of the course. The next phase, delivered at CCOPAB facilities, was entirely developed in English, in order to enable students to perform functions related to the UN Protection of Civilians system, within the scope of peacekeeping operations.
In this edition of the UNPOC, 27 future blue helmets were trained: 24 from the Brazilian Army, 02 from the Brazilian Air Force and 01 from the Brazilian Navy. Not only did CCOPAB instructors participate, but also guest instructors, with vast experience in UN Peace Operations and notorious knowledge on Protection of Civilians.
