CCOPAB ends the International Course on Protection of Civilians, in the presence of a UN representative

Rio de Janeiro (RJ) - From 3 to 14 October 2022, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) carried out the United Nations Protection of Civilians Course (UN PoC), held entirely in English, with the participation of 54 future Blue Helmets, among Brazilian and foreign military personnel from 6 countries, in addition to state police personnel from 4 different Brazilian states.

In the first week, students had classes on mandatory topics of the Core Pre-Deployment Training Material (CPTM), required by the United Nations, which led them, gradually, to the more in-depth and specific knowledge on Protection of Civilians in Peace Operations, taught in the following week.

The second week of the Course had the presence of Major OMAR HABIB, from Bangladesh, a representative of the Integrated Training Service/ Department of Peace Operations (ITS/DPO), who observed the activities, in order to grant CCOPAB the Certificate of Training Recognition by the United Nations (UN). It is worth mentioning that CCOPAB, since its creation, has already received 5 Certificates of UN Training Recognition, which ratifies the reputation of the Sergio Vieira de Mello Center as an international reference in its area.

On 14 October, the Closing Ceremony of the Course and delivery of the certificates took place, in the presence of Major General FLAVIO ALVARENGA FILHO, Director of Military Technical Education.
