CCOPAB certifies Jungle Quick Reaction Coy towards Peace Operations
Altamira (PA) and Vitória do Xingu (PA) – From 19 to 23 September 2022, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB), carried out the UN Pre-Deployment Advanced Field Exercise (EAOP), applied to the Quick Reaction Company specialized in Jungle Warfare Operations, to be offered by Brazil to the United Nations Peacekeeping Capability Readiness System (UNPCRS).
EAOP was carried out right after the UN Pre-Deployment basic Filed Exercise (EBOP); both field exercises were delivered by the Mobile Training team (MTT), sent to the 51st Jungle inf Bn. It is a multidimensional and entirely practical exercise, which marks the final phase of the preparation of troops at the disposal of UNCPRS, with the support of several civil and military institutions. In this edition of EAOP, 40 simulated incidents were applied, addressing situations that the Quick Reaction Company is likely to come across when deployed to a Peacekeeping Operation. At the end of the exercise, CCOPAB Commander handed over a certificate to the Commander of the Company stating the readiness of the troops in relation to training of troops.
It is noteworthy that the Jungle Warfare Ops Coy is a pioneer capacity within the scope of the United Nations, which will place Brazil in a prominent position in the UNPCRS. The Brazilian expertise in this field has been consolidated at the UN, as evidenced by the presence of the Jugle warfare Ops MTT, deployed to the United Nations Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO), whose main goal is to deliver specialized training for the Force Intervention Brigade (FIB), which integrates the military component of that Mission.
This edition of EAOP was supported by the Land Operations Command, Northern Military Command, 23rd Jungle Infantry Brigade, 51st Jungle Infantry Battalion, 16th State Police Battalion (Pará State Police), 4th Federal Highway Police, in addition to several civil institutions, which contributed to the certification of 180 soldiers of the the Quick Reaction Coy.
