CCOPAB delivers another edition of the Journalists and Media Advisors in Conflict Areas Course
Rio de Janeiro (RJ) - From 04 to 08 July, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB) carried out the Journalists and Media Advisors in Conflict Areas Course (EPJAIAC), in order to train journalists and media advisors to accomplish their professional activities in conflict areas and in unstable environments.
During the course, the students received instructions on communication, negotiation, first aid, firefighting, risk analysis and mitigation, minefield awareness, chemical biological radiological and nuclear defense (CBRND), and the like.
Under the supervision of the Brazilian Army Social Communication Center (CCOMSEX, acronym in Portuguese), 21 press and media professionals, from the following institutions, attended this course edition: BAND TV Channel, RBS Group, Morena FM 107.1 Radio Station, Sociedade da Bahia Radio Station, RECORD TV Channel, SBT TV Channel, SBT RIO TV Channel, Centro América – RMC TV Channel and GAZETA TV Channel, Media Advisory of Mato Grosso do Sul Legislative Assembly, Rio Grande do Sul Official Media Advisory, Mato Grosso do Sul Official Media Advisory, North Group of Communication, Amazon Rainforest Agro Portal, Gazeta de São Paulo and the Newspapers O Liberal, Gazeta do Povo and PODER360. The US SOUTHCOM also took part in the activity.
Apart from CCOPAB instruction team, the following professionals delivered lectures in the course: LTG JOSÉ RICARDO VENDRAMIN NUNES, Head of the Brazilian Army Social Communication Center, journalist LUÍS MIGUEL VIELICZKO KAWAGUTI, writer of Gazeta do Pov, Dr. KARENINE ROCHA, from the Center of Personnel Studies and COL (Ret.) CARLOS FREDERICO GOMES CINELLI; all of them with large experience in the subjetcs delivered. Representatives of the following institutions supported the course as well: Social Communication Advisory of the Ministry of Defense, the Brazilian Navy Social Communication Center, The Brazilian Air Force Social Communication Center and the Brazilian Army Social Communication Center.
Furthermore, EPJAIAC 2022 relied on significant support from several military organizations in the garrison of Vila Militar, Rio de Janeiro.
On 08 July, CCOPAB welcomed MG ALEXANDRE OLIVEIRA CANTANHEDE LAGO, Director of Military Technical Education, for the course closing ceremony and the delivery of certificates.
