CCOPAB carries out a Civil-Military Coordination Course

Rio de Janeiro (RJ) - From 27 June to 01 July, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center carried out the Civil-Military Coordination Course (CIMIC), aiming at preparing military, police and civilian personnel to hold positions related to the UN System of Civil Affairs.

The course, entirely offered in English, was divided into two phases: in the first one, on e-learning basis, students familiarized themselves with the Core Pre-deployment Training Material (CPTM); and on the second phase, at the facilities of CCOPAB, students studied topics of the Specialized Training Materials (STM).

In this edtion, there were 26 students: 16 from the Brazilian Army, one from the Brazilian Navy, one from Pernambuco State Police (PMPE) and eight civilians - six from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) and the Brazilian Peace Operations Research Network (REBRAPAZ), and two from the Brazilian War College (ESG).

Apart from CCOPAB instruction staff and guest instructors, MG (Ret.) CARLOS AUGUSTO RAMIRES TEIXEIRA, former commander of CCOPAB, Dr. EDUARDA PASSARELLI HAMANN, General Coordinator of REBRAPAZ, and Mr. GABRIEL PABLO VALLADARES, Legal Advisor of the International Committee of the Red Cross delivered special lectures during the course.

On 01 July, Major General FLÁVIO DOS SANTOS LAJOIA GARCIA, Head of Peace Missions, Aviation/ General Inspector of State Police, from the Land Operations Command (COTER), was present for the award of certificates at the closing ceremony of the course.
