CCOPAB takes part in UN working group on Protection of Civilians
Rio de Janeiro (RJ) – On 17 February 2022, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB) participated, by means of a VTC, in the second meeting of the Working Group (WG) in charge of updating the UN POC Implementing Guidelines for Military Components in UN Peacekeeping Operations.
LTC (Infantry) Adriano José do Nascimento, from the Brazilian Air Force, and CPT Camila de Almeida Paiva, from the Brazilian Army, are CCOPAB instructors who specialized in this subject matter. They were selected by the Command of their respective Forces to represent Brazil in the meetings of this multinational working group.
The WG is managed by the Office of Military Affairs, of the UN Department of Peace Operations in the UNHQ, in New York, and relies on the participation of representatives from different countries, such as: Austria, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Guatemala, Japan, Morocco, Nepal, and Pakistan.
The final product of this work will be the launch, later this year, of the update of the 2nd edition of the UN POC Implementing Guidelines for Military Components in UN Peacekeeping Operations, whose last publication was in 2015.
