CCOPAB is granted a troop training certificate

Rio de Janeiro, RJ. From 11 to 17 July 2021, an entourage from the UN Secretariat (DPO and DOS) carried out, in Cascavel (PR) and São Gabriel (RS), the Assessment and Advisory Visit (AAV), in order to evaluate, within the ambit of the Army Command, the operational readiness of the PKF Inf Bn and the QRF - both from the 15th Mechanized Infantry Brigade, as well as of the PKF Eng Coy, from the Engineering Group IV.

The objective of the AAV was to verify, in loco, the training of troops, the serviceability (quantity and quality) of materials and equipment (major equipment and self-sustainment), the selection process and capacity-building of human resources from Land Forces troops. On that occasion, the desired end-state was to get the UN Secretariat to see the viability of classifying those troops as level II in the United Nations Peacekeeping Capability Readiness System (UNPCRS).

In this context, according to the Preparation Guidelines of the Land Operations Command (COTER) and the Engineering and Construction Department (DEC), it was up to CCOPAB to contribute, within the scope of its attributions, towards the execution (from November 2020 to July 2021) of a training architecture, strictly complying with the three pillars of the preparation for peace mission contingents: Training - Evaluation - Certification. This architecture was once consolidated during the training of the PKF Inf Bn and the PKF Eng Coy deployed to the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) until 2017.

This way, under the coordination and supervision of COTER, CCOPAB carried out a series of trainings by delivering the following capacity-building activities:
1) PKF Unit Commanders and Joint Staff Course - covering the Core Pre-Deployment Training Material (CPTM);
2) PKF Subunit Commanders and Platoon Leaders Course, covering the main doctrinal concepts for UN peace missions;
3) Specialized courses towards the PKF Mech Inf Bn, QRF, and Eng Coy: a) POC Course; b) CIMIC Course; c) UN Logistics and Reimbursement Course; d) UN Engagement Platoon Course, strictly complying with DPO doctrine and, at the same time, allowing an effective participation of female soldiers as per the UN Secretariat WPS Agenda.
4) UN Pre-Deployment Basic Field Exercise (EBOP) and UN Pre-Deployment Advanced Field Exercise (EAOP).

In the final AAV report, signed by the UN DPO Military Advisor, CCOPAB was granted a troop training certificate due to a strong methodology, even applying educational technology (Trello App), to carry out and evaluate contingent trainings as per the UN standard training modules.

As a result from a successful AAV, within a wider and more complex context, encompassing several Brazilian Army General and Sector Management Boards, the report recommended that the PKF Inf Bn, QRF and Eng Coy be raised to PRCS level II.
