CCOPAB and REBRAPAZ carry out a recce in the Humanitarian and Logistic Task Force (ACOLHIDA Operation)
Manaus (AM), Boa Vista and Pacaraima (RR) - From 01 to 06 August 2021, for the first time ever (pioneering) and in an integrated way, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center - Sergio Vieira de Mello Center, a Brazilian Army Educational Organization, and REBRAPAZ carried out a recce in Manaus (AM), Boa Vista and Pacaraima (RR), visiting the Humanitarian and Logistic Task Force - ACOLHIDA Operation (https://www.gov.br/casacivil/pt-br/acolhida).
The goal of the reconnaissance trip was to update the Joint Center’s situational awareness of the operation by means of the activities carried out by the Staff of the 11th contingent (Southern Military Command). The lessons learned and best practices will be replicated by CCOPAB and REBRAPAZ during the training of the 12th contingent of ACOLHIDA Operation (Eastern Military Command).
During the week, the integrated team visited the main cells and facilities in charge of borderline first assistance, sheltering, reception, support and the process of interiorization carried out by the Hum Log task Force.
Furthermore, the officers from Sergio Vieira de Mello Center and members of REBRAPAZ could gather information/lessons as well as share experience, regarding humanitarian aid, with representatives from UNHCR, IOM, UNICEF, ICRC, among others, in a civil-military coordination and civil affairs environment.
Four members of CCOPAB took part in this activity; also, Miss GIULIA Scortegagna (taking her Master’s in International Relations) and Mr. IGOR Barreto (undergraduate of International Relations), both of them from Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) and volunteer researchers at CCOPAB, were part of the team.
CCOPAB is a full member of REBRAPAZ. Since 2016, the Research Network is under the coordination of Dr. Eduarda Hamann who has been researching and teaching PKO subjects for over 20 years.
