From 06 to 10 August, the Course for Military Translators and Interpreters (ETIM) was carried out at the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center (CCOPAB).
There were 16 students, 05 military instructors and 03 civilian teachers who took part in the course. The students will be part of the Peacekeeping Force Battalions (BRABAT 1 and BRABAT 2) and the Engineering Company of the 17th Brazilian Contingent in Haiti.
The purpose of the course was to provide the future interpreters/translators with the appropriate tools which will allow them to accomplish their mission in Haiti the best way possible. The teachers and instructors who were invited are either experts in the field of translation/ interpretation, in the case of the civilians, or military personnel who have already been to the mission.
The activities were very practical focusing the role to be fulfilled by the translator/interpreter. Moreover, the instructors and teachers provided the students with information which will help them in their training up to the moment they are deployed.
