EPCSUPEL (2010/01) Subunit and Platoon Commander training course in Peacekeeping Missions

A new group of Subunit and Platoon commanders comes to CI Op Paz and is ready for the mission in Haiti.

From 8 to 12 of March, 2010, the Peacekeeping Operations Training Center  received 49 (forty-nine) military personnel for the subunit and platoon commander training course in peacekeeping missions of the 13th Contingent of Infantry Battalion and of the Marines Company and of the 11th Contingent of the Engineering Company of MINUSTAH.

This training is intended to prepare officers already assigned to carry out specific functions of Subunit and Platoon Commanders, also enabling them to conduct the training of their fractions as instructors.

They were taught subjects referring to tactics, techniques and procedures used in Haiti, with emphasis on shooting and use of the terrain, besides the rules of engagement and standard training modules of the United Nations. By the gravity and importance of the content, the topic related to the activities of the Brazilian Units after the earthquake which devastated the country on January 12, 2010 was highlighted.
