Workshop debates on the work of REBRAPAZ

On June 13, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) and the Brazilian Network of Research on Peace Operations (REBRAPAZ, acronym in Portuguese) held a workshop on the ongoing research studies on Peace Operations. The meeting was held at CCOPAB’s facilities in Rio de Janeiro and it covered topics such as: protection of civilians; proportional use of force; capacities and performances in the United Nations Peace Operations; and Women, Peace and Security.

The Workshop counted on the presence of distinguished participants, namely: Ambassador and former minister Ronaldo Mota Sardenberg; Ambassador Maria Luisa de Moraes, Chief of the Department of International Organisms of the Foreign Affairs Ministry; Lieutenant General Floriano Peixoto, former MINUSTAH Force Commander; Lieutenant General Novaes, former commander of the Brazilian Army Peacekeeping Operations Training Center (CIOpPaz, acronym in Portuguese), which is CCOPAB’s predecessor, and General David, from the Land Operations Command. The event also had the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Defense, Igarapé Institute, Military Justice, University of São Paulo, Catholic University – Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo State University, Brazilian Army Command and General Staff College, Fluminense Federal University, War College, UNICURITIBA, Paraíba State University and Castelo Branco University.

REBRAPAZ

Founded in November of 2016, the Brazilian Network of Research on Peace Operations aims at the production and the sharing of current, critical and relevant scientific knowledge on peacekeeping operations, special political missions and other missions coordinated by international organisms. Moreover, REBRAPAZ also strengthens the bonds between Brazilian and foreign research institutions, in the civilian, military and police scopes.
