CCOPAB trains Army personnel for United Nations missions

The Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) capacitated ten more Brazilian Army members as staff officers for individual missions under the aegis of the United Nations.

During the course, which was carried out in the English language, the apprentices had the opportunity to learn the UN doctrinal subjects related to the legal framework for peace operations, protection of civilians and children, sexual violence in conflicts, among other issues. The apprentices were also given the chance to get in touch with UN staff officers by two videoconferences: one from the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) and the other from the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). On that occasion, the apprentices could learn from the experience of the ones that are currently on the ground.

Out of the ten members that attended the course, one awaits for the mobilization for South Sudan, UNMISS; two for Haiti, in MINUSTAH, and the other seven for Lebanon, UNIFIL.
