Beginning of BRABAT 23's Final Training Exercise

Pelotas (RS) - On October 13, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB) started the UN Pre-Deployment Advanced Field Exercise (EAOP, acronym in Portuguese) as part of the final preparation of the 23rd Brazilian Battalion (BRABAT) to be part of the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH, acronym in French).

The goal of the exercise is to assess preparation, training and professional efficiency in a peace operation, consolidating the esprit de corps and the feeling of mission accomplishment among the contingent members, and certify the Battalion.

More than 850 military personnel, male and female, will be observed and assessed from 13 to 23 of October. At the end of exercise, the military personnel will be ready to start boarding from November 12 on.
The exercise is a simulation of operations scenarios lived in Haitian territory, in which the possible situations that the troop may face during the mission, such as, dead body encounter, meeting with local leaders, unblocking of roads, demonstrations, humanitarian support etc will be portrayed in Pelotas. To correctly contextualize the scenario, a military team from CCOPAB has been to Haiti to update information on the mission.

Academia from different fields, language students, law enforcement organizations, media professionals, all inserted in the exercise context, support the exercise.
