21st Annual Conference of the Peace Operations Training Centers was very successful
From August 28 to October 1, in the Brasil 21 Convention Center, in Brasília, there was the Annual Conference of the International Association of Peacekeeping Centers - 21st IAPTC. The event, promoted by the Ministry of Defense, gathered 200 participants, who were representing 52 countries, to discuss subjects related to activities in Peace Operations.
The goal of the event was to promote training partnerships and contributions to strengthen the structures of the regional associations. The Conference was officially opened by the chief of the IAPTC Executive Committee, Colonel Taufik Luiz Santoso, from Indonesia, representing the president of the Association General Anto Mukti Putrano.
During the event, several authorities, linked to the theme of Peace Operations, were present, such as General José Carlos de Nardi, Chief of the Armed Forces Joint Staff, General Eduardo Dias da Costa Villas Bôas, Brazilian Army Commander, Lieutenant General Floriano Peixoto Vieira Neto, member of the High Level Independent Panel on Peace Operations, General Carlos Alberto dos Santos Cruz, MONUSCO Commander, and Colonel José Ricardo Vendramin Nunes, CCOPAB Commander.
During the closing ceremony, Colonel Taufik Santoso handed over the presidency of the Association to General Gláucio Lucas Alves, from the Brazilian Army. According to the current president, the 21st IAPTC was an example of Brazil's commitment towards taking part in peace operations: "The event was excellent, with complex content and logistic quality". In relation to the 22nd IAPTC, the general guaranteed broad support to Bosnia-Herzegovina, next host country, officially presented during the last day of the event.
