CCOPAB carries out the opening ceremony of the Course on Protection of Civilians
Itaipava (RJ) - On 14 July, CCOPAB officially started the course on Protection of Civilians - an international event which is to last until 16 July. The opening ceremony was chaired by MG (Air Force) Tarcisio Aquino Brito Veloso, Underchief of Peace Operations from the Ministry of Defense.
The first lecturer was Gen Floriano Peixoto, Force Commander of the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) from 2009 to 2010. He is also a member of the High-Level Independent Panel on Peace Operations.
Military personnel and civilians linked to the military, to the police of São Paulo and of Rio Grande do Norte, to the Military Brigade of Rio Grande do Sul, to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to Fluminense Federal University, to the University of Brasilia, to Getulio Vargas Foundation and to Pandia Calogeras Institute are present at the course. Amongst the foreigners, there are representatives from Argentina, Ecuador, Chile, Uruguay and Austria.
