Lecture by General Santos Cruz to celebrate CCOPAB's anniversary

On June 23, continuing the activities that celebrate CCOPAB's fifth anniversary, the Force Commander of the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the DR Congo (MONUSCO) gave a lecture on "Protection of Civilians in a Robust Peacekeeping Context" in the Sérgio Vieira de Mello Cultural Facility.

During the lecture, General Santos Cruz addressed the historic and geographic context of the mission and commented on material and human resources. MONUSCO is currently the biggest UN peace mission, in which there are around 20,000 military personnel. There was a debate at the end.

The audience was composed of not only military but also civilian personnel. The Chief of the Division of Peace Missions of the Ministry of Defense, Air Brigadier Tarcísio Aquino Brito Veloso, and professors from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, Fluminense Federal University and Estácio de Sá University, all in the International Relations field, were present at the event.
