CCOPAB takes part in the homage paid to the 150th birthday of Marshal Rondon
No dia 5 de maio The National Communications Day is celebrated on 05 May. This date was chosen to pay homage to the birth of Cândido Mariano da Silva Rondon, one of the most important icons for diffusing the communication systems in Brazil.He is the Patron of Communications.On this date, it is celebrated the Day of the Army Signals Branch.Furthermore, this year, it is the 150th birthday celebration of the Marshal.
To celebrate it, on 05 May, at Sérgio Vieira de Mello Cultural Facility, CCOPAB received the granddaughters of Rondon - Ms. Maria Cecília Rondon Amarante and Maria Ignez Rondon Amarante, students from the Public School "Rondon", as well as Ms Roseane Novaes - a representative of the Brazilian Postal Company, offical sponsor of the exhibition "Rondon, the Peace Marshal".
During the exhibition, due to the writing contest about Rondon, promoted by the Cultural Productions Memória Civelli Institute, the students Vitória Barbé, Sandy Layla and Lorena Pessanha received their prizes; they were 1st place, 2nd place and honorable mention winners, respectively.Moreover, there were a telegraph demonstration, the exhibition of the short film "Rondon, the Peace Marshal" and the hoisting of the National Flag by an actor who role-played Marshal Rondon.
Ms. Maria Cecília stated that she and Ms. Maria Ignez were very happy to take part in that celebration with students who could know more about their grandfather.The students were motivated by the exhibition to work towards Brazil as a whole, including the indigenous peoples.
