CCOPAB ends the training (EAOP) of BRABAT
Rio de Janeiro (RJ) - On the morning of 24 April, the After Action Review (AAR) of the pre-deployment advanced field exercise (EAOP, acronym in Portuguese) was carried out, marking the end of the last preparation phase of the Brazilian Battalion (BRABAT) as part of the 22nd Brazilian contingent for the UN Stabilization Mission in Haiti.BRABAT's next activity will be the deployment as of 11 May 15.
On 23 April, General Araken, Commander of Land Operations (COTER, acronym in Portuguese), was present on the ground and followed the training of BRABAT when in simulated situations of joint operations with the Haitian National Police (HNP), riot control and accident involving several victims.General Fernando, Eastern Military Commander (CML, acronym in Portuguese), General Ramos, Commander of the 1st Army Division (1ª DE, acronym in Portuguese), General Gláucio, 3rd Underchief of COTER, General Abrahão, Commander of the Airborne Infantry Brigade, General Smicelato, Chief of the Army Staff Cabinet (EME, acronym in Portuguese), General Veloso, Underchief of Peace Operations from the Ministry of Defense, Gen Silveira, Commander of the 8th Motorized Infantry Brigade, and General Nolasco, Commander of the 9th Motorized Infantry Brigade followed this day of exercise as well.
For two weeks, BRABAT carried out activities which simulated the mission scenario in Haiti such as motorized patrols, road clearance, finding corpses during on foot patrols, CASEVAC using aircrafts, CIMIC activities etc.
850 troops of BRABAT (665 from the Army, 174 from the Navy, and 11 from the Air Force) and more 287 military personnel among DIREX members, role players and security took part in this exercise.
