End of the first week of EAOP
Rio de Janeiro (RJ) - On the morning of 17 April, there was the partial After Action Review (AAR) of the UN pre-deployment advanced field exercise (EAOP) which is being carried out in the guarrison of Vila Militar, RJ. The exercise is to happen from 13 to 24 April.
The AAR, executed by the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB), focused on analyzing and exploring the best practices of the fractions, in the squad and platoon levels. The initial words were delivered by the Commander of the Center, and then, the military personnel who were the observers, controllers and assessors (OCA, acronym in Portuguese) could make their comments over the facts tey observed within the aforementioned fractions.
EAOP is the last preparation phase of the Brazilian Battalion (BRABAT) as part of the 22nd Brazilian contingent for the UN Stabilization Mission in Haiti.
During the week, BRABAT participated in activities which simulate the mission scenario in Haiti such as: motorized patrols, road clearance, finding corpses during on foot patrols, CASEVAC using aircrafts, Riot control operations, joint operations with the HNP (Haitian National Police) and UNPOL (UN Police), emergency medical assistance etc.
850 troops of BRABAT (665 from the Army, 174 from the Navy, and 11 from the Air Force) and more 287 military personnel in the DIREX, role players and security took part in this exercise.
