BRABAT-20 ready for the mission
MARABÁ, PA – On May 2, with the completion of the Pre-Deployment Advanced Field Exercise (EAOP), the preparation of the 20th Brazilian Contingent of the Infantry Battalion (BRABAT-20) came to an end.
EAOP, coordinated by the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB), mobilized several sectors of the marabaense society, who contributed to the success of the exercise. This support can be checked, for example, through the case of the corporal from the Firefighters of Pará, Alexsandro Santos Pereira who stated: "I feel honored to contribute towards the preparation of our military personnel. From what I could see, they are ready to face the situations they may find there", after helping to coordinate an incident which simulated the assistance to multiple victims of a car crash.
The realism of the simulations stood out, according not only to the role players but also to BRABAT military personnel who were being evaluated. Geology student, Dorília Cunha, 23 years old, who role played in some incidents, praised the work of CCOPAB's female sergeants, Jaceline and Cintia Marques, responsible for preparing the makeup of the injures of the role players. "Their work is amazing! The level of details in the simulations shows the effort of the Brazilian military personnel to do the best, besides increasing the level of the training."
Courses at CCOPAB were fundamental to the training of the troop
The training of BRABAT-20 military personnel is not just the EAOP week. Longer before, the different components had already being prepared in the original unities, besides the participation of some officers and NCOs who are in strategic function in the organization of the Battalion in courses offered by CCOPAB. "CCOPAB not only contributed to our preparation, but also gave all the necessary support to carry out our mission in Haiti. As a Brazilian, I feel proud to know that our country counts on a unity as excellent as CCOPAB", highlighted Air Force Colonel Josué dos Santos Lubas. Colonel Lubas, chief of the Civil Affairs Section, will be the first Air Force officer to lead a section at BRABAT. He attended the Unit Commanders and Joint Staff Course and the Civil-Military Coordination Course at CCOPAB.
After the good performance of his subordinates during the simulations, BRABAT-20 Commander, Colonel Vinícius Ferreira Martinelli, demonstrated to be confident about the training of his troop. "I think our Battalion is ready for any situation that we might face during our mission".
BRABAT-20 will board to integrate the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti starting May 12.
