Brazilian Contingent at the final phase of preparation for the mission in Haiti

MARABÁ, PA – On April 28, the Pre-Deployment Advanced Field Exercise (EAOP) started in Marabá – PA, headquarters to the 23rd Jungle Infantry Brigade.
This activity is coordinated by the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center (CCOPAB) and characterizes the end of the training period of the 20th Brazilian Contingent of the Peacekeeping Force Infantry Battalion (BRABAT-20). The troop will be part of the UN Mission for Stabilization in Haiti (MINUSTAH, acronym in French - Mission des Nations Unies pour la Stabilisation en Haïti).
The group is composed of 888 military personnel from the Army, 244 from the Navy, 34 from the Air Force, as well as, military personnel from friendly nations - 31 from Paraguay, two from Canada and one from Bolivia. A presentation of the guidelines for the exercise was given by CCOPAB to the members of BRABAT-20 last Sunday (27) in the auditorium of the Municipal Chamber in Marabá.
During the five-day training, there will be simulations of different scenarios that the Brazilian Contingent might face while in Haitian soil. This is the last training phase for the troop that will be deployed from May 13 and will stay for nearly six months.
