Handover Ceremony at the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Center
On January 24, Colonel Luiz Fernando Estorilho Baganha handed over the command of the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Center to Colonel Jose Ricardo Vendramin Nunes. The ceremony was headed by Lieutenant General José Alberto da Costa Abreu, Commander of the 1st Army Division.
There was the unveiling of the picture of the substituted commander, at the former commanders photo gallery, in the auditorium. Then, there was the handover parade at which the following civil and military authorities were present: Lieutenant General Paulo Sergio Melo de Carvalho, Lieutenant General Luiz Guilherme Paul Cruz, Lieutenant General Walter Souza Braga Netto, Major General Ronaldo Pierre Cavalcanti Lundgren, Major General Roberto Escoto, Major General Henrique Martins Nolasco Sobrinho, Major General Mauro Sinott Lopes, Major General Ronaldo Barcellos Ferreira de Araújo, Major General (Air Force) Luiz Fernando de Aguiar, Mr. Yvon Perez (French Military Attaché), Captain John Morris ( US Naval Attaché), Lieutenant Commander Anne Restrepo (Chief of the Military Liaison Office of the US Consulate) and Ms. Sylvia Hausen de Arêa Leão (judge at the State Court of Rio de Janeiro).
After the parade, the guests went to Sergio Vieira de Mello Cultural Facility where there was the farewell to the substituted commander and welcome to the new commander. CCOPAB wishes Colonel Baganha happiness in his new commission and, Colonel Vendramin, success in his new duty as the commander of CCOPAB.
