Course for Journalists in Conflict Areas 2013 – 4th day

The morning of July 11 started with the presentation of Advisor Alexandre Brasil da Silva, from the Press Assistance of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Office. Mr. Brasil da Silva spoke about "Media in Armed Conflicts". After that, the apprentices went to the Basic and Advanced Center for Privates, Corporals and Sergeants of the Military Police of the State of Rio de Janeiro, where they participated in the drills of "Advance in Risky Areas" taught by MP Captain Sérgio.

Then, Lieutenant Colonel Moleta made a presentation on "Ballistics" at Gericinó Instruction Field (CIG); the apprentices were able to view the effect of shoots of different calibers in different kinds of materials. As the last activity of the morning, the journalists tried ration for lunch, supplied by the Brazilian Army.

In the afternoon, the apprentices attended the instruction of Lieutenant Commander (Marines) Navi which dealt with the "Use of Simulation Devices for Tactical Engagement" and "Progression Course". At the end of the day, the apprentices participated in a simulation at Morro do Capim, a hill placed at CIG, where they simulated the progression at a theatrical favela.
