Course for Journalists in Conflict Areas 2013- second day

In the beginning of the second day of the course (July 9) at the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center (CCOPAB),Military Justice Prosecutor and Ms. in International Humanitarian Law Najla Nassif Palma presented a lecture on "International Humanitarian Law and Media Protection". After that, Commander Toscano talked about "Improvised Explosive Devices" and Master Chief Petty Officer (Marines) Esteves made a speech on "Non lethal weapons".

In the afternoon, Folha de São Paulo journalist Juca Varella shared his experience in armed conflicts with the apprentices. Reports of instances in the middle of the Iraq War enhanced the importance of the past and future instructions of the course.

After that, there were the lectures on "Rules of Engagament" by Lieutenant Commander (Marines) Wagner Vinicius, and "Communication and Negotiation" by Lieutenant Colonel Moleta. In that occasion, the apprentices were introduced to the Combat Simulator System for the Training of the Use of Legal Force and could experience the difficulty in making decisions in stressful moments, what is vital for the preparation of actions in conflict areas.
