CCOPAB makes a ceremony in honor of the Day of Communications
On May 09, the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center (CCOPAB) and the institution Memória Civelli made a ceremony in honor of the Day of Communications at the facilities of Sergio Vieira de Mello Cultural Center. The event was allusive to the Day of Communications and counted on the presence of family members of Marshal Rondon, the patron of the military branch of Communications. The Commander of CCOPAB Colonel Baganha talked about the first Brazilian citizen in charge of the epic effort of national integration by communication means, that is to say, Marshal Rondon, and emphasized the importance of the military branch of Communications in the past and nowadays.
After that, there was the presentation of the website and then monitors made a guided tour through that cultural center, together with the role-playing of Rondon's typical daily routine in the beginning of the 20th century in the outback of the Amazon Forest, where he was posted to connect telegraphic lines. The audience of the event was composed of students from the Brazilian Military Engineering Institute and from Escola Municipal Rondon (a public school of the city of Rio de Janeiro), as well as other guests.
Sergio Vieira de Mello Cultural Center is open for public free visits on weekdays, from Tuesday to Friday, from 10h to 16h.
