4th Day of the Course for Military Translators and Interpreters

The morning of the fourth day of the Course for Military Translators and Interpreters (acronym in Portuguese: ETIMil) started with a joint activity with the apprentices of the two language groups: they translated the lecture presented to one of the Brazilian Contingents by the wife of the Brazilian ambassador in Haiti. The aim of this activity was to have the two groups train simultaneous interpretation, more specifically the whispering category. After this instruction, the two groups of ETMil joined the apprentices of EPCOEM (acronym in Portuguese for the Course for Unit Commanders and Staff Officers ) in order to participate in activities similar to the tasks commanders and staff officers will be involved in and will have to count on the interpreters' participation. At the end of this activity, the apprentices of ETIMil received a feedback of their performances of the morning activities. In the afternoon, the group of the English language had more exercises on the practice of consecutive interpretation, whereas the group of the French language were presented specific characteristics of the Haitian French language, practiced translation and received the feedback of their performances.
