CCOPAB takes part in a seminar to celebrate the International Day of UN Peacekeepers in Rio de Janeiro
Rio de Janeiro (RJ) – On 14 June 2023, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB) participated in the Seminar “The Brazilian contributions to UN Peace Operations in the 21st Century", organized by the Brazilian Research Network on Peace Operations (REBRAPAZ), by the Eastern Military Command (CML) and by the Representative Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rio de Janeiro (ERERIO), as part of of the celebrations of the International Day of UN Peacekeepers, of 29 May 2023.
The Seminar was organized through two debate sessions: the first on "Brazil's diplomatic and military contributions at the political and operational levels" and the second addressing the theme "Lessons learned and best practices of Brazil in the 21st Century", including a lecture by Colonel VAZ, CCOPAB Commander, on “Leadership in the United Nations (UN) in Peace Missions”, followed by a lecture by Lieutenant Colonel CHRISTIANE LIMA, CCOPAB instructor, on “Brazilian contributions to the Women, Peace and Security Agenda in MINUSCA (United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic)”.
In addition to the lectures delivered during the second debate session, CCOPAB prepared an exhibition stand where participants could learn more about the activities carried out by CCOPAB, when it comes to the preparation of military, police and civilian personnel, from Brazil and friendly nations, designated to peace missions and humanitarian demining missions; the training of contingents for the Humanitarian and Logistic Task Force (Operation ACOLHIDA), as well as the preparation of troops for the United Nations Peacekeeping Capability Readiness System (UNPCRS).
The event, broadcast by CML and REBRAPAZ on their respective YouTube channels, was held in the Great Hall of Itamaraty Palace, in Rio de Janeiro, with the presence of General TOMÁS, Brazilian Army Commander, General NOVAES, Eastern Military Commander, Ambassador DANIELLA XAVIER, General Coordinator of Patrimony and Collections of ERERIO, Ambassador HERMANO TELLES RIBEIRO, also from ERERIO, and Dr. EDUARDA HAMMAN, General Coordinator of REBRAPAZ, among other military and civilian authorities.
