CCOPAB instructor takes part in multinational exercise in Kenya

Nairobi (Kenya) - From 11 to 24 February 2023, Major ARMANDO ALVES DE OLIVEIRA SOUZA, an instructor at the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB) took part, as a student, in the African Union Staff Officers ,Course - AUSOC in the context of the multinational exercise “JUSTIFIED ACCORD 23”. The exercise was organized by the United States Africa Command and by the Southern European Task Force - Africa.

The course was held by the Humanitarian Peace Support School – HPSS, with the participation of 97 students from 17 nations. The main objectives of the course were: building the readiness of US partners to participate in missions under the aegis of the United Nations and the African Union, as well as increasing multinational interoperability in support of actions against extremist organizations, counterterrorism, and crisis responses.

CCOPAB's participations in the multinational exercise this year and in the previous year ("JUSTIFIED ACCORD 22") were of great importance. They contributed to the continuous training of the teaching staff, as well as to the expansion of the Center's international insertion, aligned with its vision of the future - to be an international reference in promoting excellence when it comes to the preparation of human resources for peace operations and humanitarian demining missions.

On that occasion, Brazil was also represented by Colonel JOÃO MARCELO DE SOUZA PASSOS, from the Land Operations Command (COTer, acronym in Portuguese), and by Lieutenant Colonel CLEBERSON ANDRÉ D'AQUINO DE OLIVEIRA, from the Army General Staff.
