CCOPAB carries out the Hostile Environment Awareness Training for Civilians (HEAT)

Rio de Janeiro, RJ - From 18 to 22 July 2022, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB) carried out the Hostile Environment Awareness Training for Civilians (HEAT), whose aim is to train the Brazilian civilian component, coming from several organizations, to work in risky and unstable environments.

During the course, the students received instructions on communication, negotiation, first aid, firefighting, risk analysis and mitigation, minefield awareness, chemical biological radiological and nuclear defense (CBRND), among others. Furthermore, HEAT 2022 relied on significant support from the following military organizations in the garrison of Vila Militar, Rio de Janeiro.

Apart from CCOPAB instruction team, its is important to highlight the participation of lecturers as Dr. EDUARDA PASSARELLI HAMANN, General Coordinator of the Brazilian Peace Operations Research Network (REBRAPAZ) and Ms. BIA ALBERNAZ, sharing her experience in the DR Congo, Colombia and South Sudan.

In this edition, twenty-six students, from the following national and international institutions, attended the training course: Brazilian Intelligence Agency (ABIN); Office of Institutional Security of the Presidency (GSI/PR); State Department of Penitentiary Administration (SEAP/RJ); Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (EMBRAPA); International Mission Board; Brazilian Red Cross (RJ); Brazilian Army Physical Education School (EsEFEX); British Consulate-General Rio de Janeiro; Brazilian War College (ESG); Brazilian Army Command and General Staff Colege (ECEME); Brazilian Naval War College (EGN); Galeão International Airport (RIOGALEÃO); Salvador University (UNIFACS); Caritas Brazil (RJ); - International Mission Board of the Brazilian Baptist Convention (CBB); Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ) and IBMR University Center.
