CCOPAB holds the opening of the International Protection of Civilians Course

Rio de Janeiro - On April 18, 2022, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) started the fourth edition of the International Protection of Civilians Course (Comprehensive Protection of Civilians Course/CPoC).

The Course will be held until April 29th, and its objective is to prepare military and police personnel to perform functions related to the Protection of Civilians in UN peacekeeping operations. The attendees of the CPoC Course are also enrolled in the Military Experts on Mission Course (EPMP, acronym in Portuguese), and they are from the Brazilian Army, the Brazilian Navy, the Brazilian Air Force, and from Santa Catarina and Tocantins States Police. In addition to the Brazilian students, there are also two military attendees from Friendly Nations, Namibia and Indonesia.

Besides CCOPAB’s team of instructors, the following instructors also participated as speakers in the Course:
- Major General MARCO ANTONIO ESTEVÃO MACHADO - Chief of Staff of the United Nations Mission in Sudan (UNMISS);
- Air Force Colonel ANDERSON CLAYTON FRANCISCO - Chief of the Preparation Section of the International Operations of the Brazilian Ministry of Defense;
- Army Colonel JOSÉ OSNI DOS SANTOS - Chief of the Employment Section of the International Operations of the Ministry of Defense; and
- Professor PRISCILA FETT - Specialist in International Human Rights Law.
