CCOPAB and IBMR participate in a coordination meeting to strengthen their partnership with the Brazilian Research Network on Peace Operations (REBRAPAZ)
Rio de Janeiro (RJ) – On 07 October 2021, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center — Sergio Vieira de Mello Center —, a Brazilian Army training center subordinated to the Department of Military Technical Education (DETMIL, acronym in Portuguese), participated in a coordination meeting with IBMR members in order to consolidate their partnership with the Brazilian Research Network on Peace operations (REBRAPAZ).
CCOPAB Commander, along with the Head of CCOPAB Doctrine Division, participated in the meeting, held by videoconference, with Leonardo Carvalho Braga (coordinator of IBMR International Relations Center and REBRAPAZ Council member) and Luciana Mello¬ (Professor at the School of Business, Economic Sciences and International Relations from IBMR and a IBMR focal point at REBRAPAZ).
Among other topics, it was discussed the continuity of conflict areas negotiation and mediation courses held by IBMR during PKO pre-deployment training at CCOPAB. In addition, the participation of IBMR voluntary researchers in Sergio Vieira de Mello Center was negotiated.
In the scope of CCOPAB’s mission, the present activity contributed to strengthen the bonds with the Brazilian academia. It does improve the teaching/learning process applied to peacekeepers before being deployed to United Nations peace operations.
The Center’s and REBRAPAZ’s partnership and integration have been consolidated since 2016. Professor PhD Eduarda Hamann is the general coordinator of this Research Network since then.
