CCOPAB takes part in the UN Peacekeeping Ministerial Preparatory Meeting III
Rio de Janeiro, RJ. On 1 and 2 September 2021, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center - Sergio Vieira de Mello Center, a Brazilian Army Educational Organization supervised by the Department of Military Technical Education, took part, by means of VTC, in the UN Peacekeeping Ministerial Preparatory Meeting III.
The organizers of the first meeting were Bangladesh, Canada and the UK. The second meeting, under the responsibility of Rwanda and the US, discussed the partnerships for performance and accountability.
This third meeting, co-hosted by Ethiopia, Indonesia and Japan, discussed the partnerships for training and capacity-building, covering the following topics:
- A general view on training and capacity-building: identifying needs and best practices;
- Training and capacity-building of women in PKOs;
- Training and capacity-building in the medical field; and
- Partnerships in training and capacity-building: the path to follow.
The fourth and last meeting, under the responsibility of the Netherlands and Pakistan, will discuss protection of civilians, and safety and security.
The UN Peacekeeping Ministerial, carried out every two years, will be held in Seoul (South Korea), in December 2021. Its aim is to have Member States verify concrete and tangible results in order to improve PKOs, in accordance with the priorities of A4P+ initiative.
