CCOPAB mobilizes JWMTT to train troops in the DR Congo

Rio de Janeiro (RJ) - From 19 to 23 July, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB), under the coordination of the Land Operations Command, mobilized Brazilian military personnel who are to deliver training to troops working in the DR Congo.

The Brazilians will integrate the Jungle Warfare Mobile Training Team (JWMTT) in the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the DR Congo (MONUSCO). The members of the JWMTT, 14 from the Army Command and one from the Air Force Command, are military experts on jungle warfare - course taken at the Jungle Warfare Training Center (CIGS, acronym in Portuguese). They will provide training to the Force Intervention Brigade (FIB) in MONUSCO, as well as to the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Among other activities during the week, it is important to highligh the VTCs with LTG Affonso da Costa - MONUSCO Force Commander and LTC Flávio Luiz dos Prazeres - JWMTT senior officer.

Jungle Warfare
Brazil offered the services of JWMTT to UN in April 2019, by means of the United Nations Peacekeeping Capability Readiness System (UNPCRS); thus, deploying the first MTT in June 2019. Since then, JWMTT has been contributing towards the jungle warfare training of troops in the DR Congo.
